CJ Wu is a dynamic and dramatic young conductor, with a background as a professional violinist in her native Taiwan.
In recent years she has enjoyed great
success in being invited to major competitions

In December 2021 CJ was selected by Riccardo Muti to participate in his OperaAcademy, working on Nabucco for a concert performance at Fondazione Prada inMilan. She was then invited at very short notice to stand in for an indisposed Muti at further performances in Ravenna and Rimini with Orchestre Giovanile Luigi Cherubiniand Coro Cremona Antiqua. In 2022-2024 season, She will work with CopenhagenPhilharmonic, Aalborg Symphony, Aarhus Symphony, Sønderjyllands Symphony andOdense Symphony Orchestra in Denmark.
She won the 1st Prize of Brass Band Conductors’ Association (BBCA) ConductingCompetition in 2021 and the 1st Prize of Progetto Johannes Brahms by FilarmonicaGioachino Rossini in Pesaro in 2019, she conducted Brahms Symphony No.1 and No.2in Teatro Rossini Pesaro share podium with Maestro Donato Renzetti. CJ has assisted conductors such as Vasily Petrenko, Omer Meir Wellber, AndrewManze, John Storgårds and Simone Young at the BBC Philharmonic and RoyalLiverpool Philharmonic Orchestras. She has appeared in concert with Manchester’sprofessional contemporary music ensemble, Psappha, and in masterclasses withManchester Camerata, Northern Ballet Sinfonia and North East Wales Sinfonia. Hergraduation concert took place in 2021 with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. During the 2018-19 season, CJ was a Visiting Artist at Cornell University,conducting, coaching and leading the symphony and chamber orchestras there. Shealso assisted the Taipei Civic Symphony Orchestra, returning later as guestconductor. Other masterclasses have resulted in performances with the Savaria Symphony,Ruse Philharmonic, West Bohemian Symphony, Pazardzhik Symphony, BucharestRoyal Camerata, Sant Cugat den Vallès Symphony, OIDA Orchestra di Arezzo, SouthBohemian, Moravian Philharmonic and Brasov Philharmonic. In masterclasses CJ hasworked with Sir Mark Elder, Michael Schønwandt, Christian Ewald, Martin Sieghart,Sigmund Thorp, Ludovic Morlot, Nicolas Pasquet, Johannes Schlaefli, Omer MeirWellber, Mark Wigglesworth, Simone Young and many more. As a violinist, CJ received her Master’s degree in 2010 and has worked with mostof Taiwan’s professional orchestras, including as concertmaster. She is the founderand artistic director of Taipei Chamber Music Ensemble and the Rhein String Quartet. She obtained her master’s degree in orchestral conducting at the Royal NorthernCollege of Music in Manchester(RNCM), under the guidance of Professor Mark Heronand Clark Rundell. Currently she is studying Soloist Diploma in Conducting at theRoyal Danish Academy of Music with Professor Giordano Bellincampi. Clark Rundell.
